Gerber 22-80012 Infinity Ultra Task LED Flashlight, Black

How much do you know about LED lights? These things are incredible-they use hardly any power, yet kick out a huge amount of light for their size. Also, LEDs are built inside a solid case, which makes them much more durable than incandescent lights and their easily-shattered glass bulbs. And they have a huge lifespan: while the average incandescent bulb may last-at best-50,000 hours before it burns out, an LED can last 100,000 hours or more.

This is why it's exciting to manufacturers starting to use this technology in flashlights. How many times have you really needed to use your flashlight, only to find that the batteries are dead or that the bulb is burnt out or broken? Gerber's Infinity Ultra ups the reliability factor with its LED technology that, according to them, will last 100 hours or more on the included AA batteries. This thing is sturdy too-Gerber coats its circuitry with epoxy, which holds everything in place if you drop it or accidentally smack it against a rock.

The company claims that the Infinity Ultra is waterproof down to 10 feet. Not having access to 10 feet of water, I filled up my bathtub and dropped it in there for a minute or so. Sure enough, the flashlight still worked, and without any noticeable lack of brilliance.

Though the Infinity Ultra's beam is very bright for its size, this is not the best flashlight for navigating unlit country roads at night or for exploring abandoned warehouses. It is perfect for camping, however, where its durability, small size, and light weight make it ideal for hauling in a pack and illuminating a tent.

Overall, a great little product from a reliable manufacturer.--Josh Dettweiler

User Reviews about Gerber 22-80012 Infinity Ultra Task LED Flashlight - Black

I am another who has a older infinity.

It's a great utility flashlight

I am looking to get another to have arround. It seems my wife has my old one which we used on a vacation trip to her parrent place by the lake.

Brighter flashlights have there place.

Becasue this is a task light, the power switch is perfect. you don't need to keep turning it on and off, because it runs for so long. Just leave it on while your working on the project. It is much easier to find when you put it down. and it uses a standard battery.

I wear it on a lanyard when I need it.

Great for a 72 hour survival kit. Pocket light, glove box light. -- Well made flashlight.
I have had a Gerber Infinity light for 4 or 5 years and it has been a great light! I bought 3 of these, one for a female soldier getting ready to deploy to Afghanistan, one for my wife to carry in her purse, and a spare for me!! The difference in brightness with the new Infinity light is amazing, almost two times as bright as my old one! These are rugged lights for sure and my old one still works well. I have never had very good luck with the smaller Maglites so am slowly replacing my lights with LED's that use AA batteries. I also have a Gerber Firecracker light which is another great light for a few dollars more. I like the fact that the AA batteries are cheap to purchase and most stores carry them unlike some of the C123 batteries that some of the smaller flashlights use. -- Nice light!
So I got this thing w/ the Amazon suggestions and while it's a cute little light, that's about it. I bought it thinking it'd be similar to a Surefire but man, I was wrong. Mainly, I just wanted it because I thought it was a thumb press style at the end of the light but nope, it's just a regular twist type. Too bad...

The light itself is just a little LED that's just a little bit brighter than those keychain LED things you see at gas stations next to the Skittles. It does look pretty tough though and looks like it's able to handle some pretty crazy abuse. The twist cap at the rear also looks like it's weather sealed as well. But all in all, it's just a cheap little toy.

Edit-
Ok, so I did a little side-by-side comparison to another LED flashlight that I own and it performs decently. My other one (silver) is a 3-bulb light and runs on these weird style CR2-esque batteries. The Gerber runs on a single AA (easily available), is much more compact, and performs similarly. Oh, and it can function as a thumb press. :) If you twist the back cap 'til the light comes on, then back it off until it goes off, it will then work as a thumb press light. Cool. -- Cool lil' light
